CLEANED Antique Vintage Old Reclaimed Salvaged Interior Egg Dart Steel Door Lockset Knob Plate Lock

Elegant, antique, interior door set salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. It was made by, "Reading Hardware Co." of Reading, PA sometime during the first quarter of the previous century. It consists of 2 steel knobs, 2 stamped steel escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock, 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews, and 12 installation screws to fasten the parts to the door.

Originally, the knobs and plates were copper plated and coated with a black lacquer finish ("Japanned"). The knobs don't have any but the plates still retain a good amount of the plating.

At the point of salvage, all parts were partially-painted and dirty. Since then, we removed the paint and carefully cleaned all parts, trying to preserve as much of the copper plating and finish as possible.

All parts are in excellent condition. Expect nicks and scratches, typical wear for old, used hardware, but no breaks, cracks, chips, or gouges.

The lock was opened, inspected, and  we sprayed grease on and around all parts to facilitate their movement.  The inside of the lock is fairly clean considering its age (see close  up photo). If you want a key to operate the lock, we could modify an old skeleton key  to work with the lock for $15/key--email us after the auction if you are interested.
