30"x89" Antique Vintage Old Reclaimed Salvaged French SOLID Wood Wooden Door Windows Beveled Glass Lite

Unusual, antique,  French, interior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. The door is made of solid Heart Pine and features 15 beveled, glass lites.

Please note that heartpine is the non-living, core of a pine tree, and not the soft, outer, living sap-wood. Since it takes 30 years for a pine tree just to develop just 1” of heart stock it is rarer, harder, more durable, more insect & rot resistant, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and is much more valuable than the cheap, pine lumber that is commonly found at most hardware stores.

Unfortunately, one of the glass lites is broken. However,  we could order a new lite and install it--Email us a for a quote.

This door was originally part of a set of double doors. It has a rabbet edge on the lock stile and a mortise for a strike plate. No mortises were made for a lock set. Judging by its design, it may have also been used as a storm door. There is applied molding in between the hinge and lock stiles that seems to hold the part of the door that houses the glass lites. 

Although this is an interior door, it can also be used as an exterior door.

Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door (check out our eBay store).

Condition:
On the exterior side of the door, the edges of the lock stile and the lock housing are chipped; and some pieces of molding around the glass are chipped, cracked and/or missing.

On the interior side of the door, the molding on the top rail and the hinge stile are chipped and/or missing.

Otherwise, this door is in very good shape with only surface scrapes, scratches, small nail holes--minor cosmetic blemishes, which would be removed during  the finishing process or covered if painted.

Swing: The door is currently set up to swing inwards, towards the Left. However, we can modify the door to swing in the opposite direction--Email us for a quote.

Modification: We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, make molding, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
