35"x48" Antique Vintage Old Reclaimed Salvaged Cast Iron Metal Gate Fence Panel Grille Industrial Factory

WOW, what a rare find! Cool, distressed, cast iron panel salvaged from Northeastern, PA. It is made  of solid, heavy, thick, cast iron and weighs 150 - 200 lbs.

Although the panel looks like a group of 34 rectangular strips  (fins or blades) held together by 2 round bars; each "bar" is actually  33 short,  tubular pieces held together by a nut on each end. The tubes are actually  separators or dividers between the strips. If you notice, the tubes look  staggered and don't line up perfectly with one another. That's because they need  to be tightened. The whole panel flexes or bends just a little when picked up, and that's because the  4 nuts need tightening.

The panel was originally painted a black color, and much  of the paint remains. However, there are also many rusty spots. What really  makes this extra cool is the pitted or "hammered" surface, which occurred  naturally after years of exposure to the elements. Please keep in mind, that  this only surface-level corrosion; just cosmetic. Aside from the flexing, this panel  is strong, sturdy, and show no signs of weakness. It's in great shape with no  breaks, cracks, or rot.

One of the strips on one end  has slightly bent ends (see last 2 photos). These could be  straightened by pulling and/or banging with a hammer.

Aside from whatever purpose it originally served, it would  make for a great table top, cut up and used as drawer fronts or doors for a  customized dresser or cabinet, industrial art, movie, theater props, etc.
