Handsome, dining chair salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. The chair is made of solid Mahogany and has a caned seat. It's stained and finished (unpainted).
It has a gorgeous design and includes 5 spindles in the backrest with ball finials on the ends; carved grooves in all of the vertical and horizontal rails above the seat and turned front legs.
Our carpenter inspected the chair from top to bottom, and didn't need to glue or reinforce anything. Overall, the chair is strong and sturdy.
The chair is in great condition considering that it's at least 100 years old. Expect the typical nicks, scratches, and spots of worn finish that you would expect to find on an old, used chair. There are no breaks, gouges, rot, or warp. The only damage on the piece are 2, small missing strips of caning from the side of the chair (see last photo). However, this does not reduce the structural integrity of the seat, as it is barely notice-able, and can continue to be used without wear for another lifetime of service.
