Vintage Antique Old SOLID Bent Wood Wooden Caned Back Side Lounge Accent Arm Chair Armchair

Elegant, solid wood, arm chair salvaged from Northeastern PA. The fame is made of a solid ash (looks like oak) and retains it's original stain and finish. All wooden components of the chair are bent, which is a work of art within itself.

The backrest is caned and the seat is made of Masonite (pressed wood). Although they did a nice job securing and making the seat look as natural as possible, it's not the original. My guess is that the seat was originally caned or upholstered and it was damaged. Since it's more expensive to replace one of those seats, the simpler, cost-effective solution is to just cut a piece of plywood, or Masonite in this case, and just fasten it to the frame. I'm assuming that most people will want the seat replaced with something more appropriate. The fastest and least expensive solution would be to add a fabric-covered cushion to the Masonite seat. It could either be a floating/loose cushion or one that is fastened in between the circle of tacks or grommets that are currently there.

Our carpenter inspected the chair from top to bottom, and didn't need to make any repairs or reinforce anything as the chair is strong and sturdy.

Cosmetically, the chair is clean and in excellent condition. Expect only tiny nicks and light scratches. The wooden frame is free of breaks, cracks, dents, gouges, rot, or warp. The caning is tight and fully intact. This chair is ready for another lifetime of service.
