Snegurochka or Snegurka or The Snow Maiden, is a character in Russian fairy tales. There are numerous versions of the story of Snegurochka told in Russia. This painting portrayed a part of one of them with an older man and woman who had always regretted that they did not have any children. In winter they made a girl out of snow. The snow maiden came alive and became the daughter they never had. They called her Snegurochka.
Wonderful hand painted oil on board of a Russian older couple, Snegurochka, a young boy, log cabin, trees, and a horse with sledge. Few layers of enamel paint cover the oil painting. The artist's signature and the title of the painting can be found in the lower right-hand corner. It is framed with a sturdy, hard wood distressed frame. Painting is ready to hang with a string, attached to the back of the frame.
